LAPD Captain L. G. Loomis

This First issue of THE GUARDIAN was published in 1937.
Containing 287 pages, this souvenir police annual was the first effort made by the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club to publish a complete historical and fully informative chronicle of the functions, operations and purposes of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Containing 287 pages, this yearbook chronicles the evolution and development of the Department. It begins with the era of Pueblo days when herding cattle in the street was the principle misdemeanor, to the modern times of 1937 where
the policeman had become a highly trained expert in the scientific detection and prevention of crime of the day. Full of artwork, printed word and photos, it is apparent that attention to detail was a high priority when developing this
publication.
Measuring 10" x 13 ½", the cover is metallic gold with navy blue ink and it has a pebble texture.
A copy of this book sold at auction on the internet for $407.77 on 4-17-06. Condition of the cover was not as nice as this example.
