Sterling silver Santa Cruz Police badge #144, made by Ed Jones Co. Oakland, CAL. Circa 1960.
An absolutely stunning hand-engraved badge from the Santa Cruz Fire Department in California. This badge is made of Sterling silver and measures 3” tall by 3” wide. The enameled and engraved lettering on the front of the badge reads, “CHIEF ENGINEER – S. C. F. D. – SANTA CRUZ – CAL.” In the center of the badge is a beautifully engraved scene depicting six firemen holding three large hose lines. The firemen are facing away from the viewer, and the hose streams appear to rise up to the title of Chief Engineer. There is an engraved hand-pulled hose cart to the right of the firemen and mountains in the background. The entire scene is surrounded by well-executed scrollwork. The back of the badge has a T-pin and C-catch. The word “STERLING” is stamped on the lower right corner.
