The 1913 Honolulu City Directory shows Thomas C. Dawkins as the Manager of Harry Culman Jewelers. Mabel E. Benny was listed as Clerk. Her son Benny, Richard N. bds 848 Young was listed at her residence. Richard was known to work for Harry Culman from a very young age running errands and helping out in the business. In 1923 Richard and Thomas Dawkins bought the business from Harry and changed the name to Dawkins Benny
