


Marshal Gold Hill Police shield, circa 1874, sterling silver, jeweler made, known to have been worn by James L. McCleery. McCleery was born in Ohio in 1836 and took ill while still living in Gold Hill in December, 1915. He was hospitalized in Reno and died on December 2, 1915.
