Maui County Provisional Police badge #4. During WWII after the attack on Pearl Harbor many Hawaiian police officers volunteered to serve in the armed forces. It became necessary to organize a Provisioinal Police force. These volunteers were past the age of military service, some of them being retired police officers and they took over policing duties under the newly enacted Martial Law.
Armbands were worn by the Porvisional Police on Maui.
