Chief Deputy Sheriff Butte Co. Calif. 14k jeweler made presentation badge. C. W. Toland to Wm M. Alexaner. Born February 19, 1889. From 1920 to 1933 he was the Undersheriff.

W. W. Toland to Wm. M. Alexander January 3, 1927 Marked 14k. The six diamonds were added for his retirement. The Ruby in the eagle was original.

Presentation badge to C. H. Palmer Chief Police Martinez, CAL. circa 1931.
Charles H. Palmer was listed as a Constable in Township 1 as early as 1910 and into the 1920’s. The U.S. Census for 1930 lists him as Chief of Police Martinez, a postion he held until 1939.

Presentation reads: An expression of friendship from W. M. Veale 1931.
William M. Veale was the Undersheriff of Contra Costa County. His father Richard R. Veale was the elected Sheriff 1895-1935.

14k gold badge presented to newly elected Sheriff John A. Miller May 19, 1935. He was in office 1935-1943. Hallmarked Jones 14k. Center stone is 1/2 carat. Smaller stones are all 1/10 and the jeweler states they are unusally high quality. Total 1.2 carats.
