Reverse of gold presentation badge.

  On January 7, 1908, on the occasion of his 20th Anniversary with the department, Captain Moriarty was presented with this 14k gold presentation badge made by local jeweler Ernsting & Co., weighing over 3 ounces.  Captain Moriarty wore this badge until his retirement in November 1920.  In a ceremony held on November 4, 1920 (see article), his gold 20 year presentation badge, which  had been fitted with a retired panel, was presented to him.  Born in Ireland in 1861 he immigrated to the United States and arrived in New York on May 20, 1880.  He became a naturalized citizen on March 14, 1884 in Cook County, IL.  He joined the San Diego Police Department on June 3, 1889.
He died April 5, 1933 at age 72.  SKU 11096

Hawaiian Detective Bureau.  Sterling silver with hard fired black enamel.
Post Civil War jeweler made Deputy U. S. Marshal badge made in the classic “police belt” design.  14k gold layered over a sterling silver base.  Red and blue hard fired enamel highlight the crossed U.S. flags and the crossed cannons.
Marshal Corte Madera Marin Co.and worn by William A. Wyatt who also owned a Fruit and Vegetable business in Corte Madera.  The star is made of sterling silver with hard fired blue enameled lettering and nicely hand engraved.  Hallmarked Irvine & Jachens 1027 Market St. and dated 7-14-24.
