Some Alameda County and Oakland Police badges appear with the hallmark “Pioneer Oakland CAL”.  It is thought that Pioneer had an arrangement with the Ed Jones Co. as they were both located on Broadway.  Pioneer was a pawn and loan operation and as the markings on the building indicate they did watch and jewelry repairing and quite possibly employed an engraver.
